Family Law Meetings and Changes

Local family law practitioners shall begin meeting on a monthly basis to address issues raised at the recent bench/bar meeting led by Judge Olson. The Whatcom County Bar Association has approved the formation of a committee to address these issues. Specifically, the committee’s goal will be to develop and present to the court/judges (1) a proposed letter or notice that will provide information about Alternative Dispute Resolution and other resources in our community for family law cases and (2) proposed changes to the Superior Court Local Rules for domestic relations proceedings.

We also foresee that after the committee has completed its work, this meeting will turn into a monthly meeting of family law practitioners where there can be further discussions of local family law practice issues or professional development topics.

The first meeting will be held on June 17th from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Suite 160 of the Bellingham Towers. Thereafter, meetings will be held the 3rd Monday of the month in the same location.

If you would like to join the committee, please send Jennifer Slattery (jennifer@kulshanlaw.com) your contact information and email address. Even if you do not want to join the committee, please feel free to come to the monthly meetings and provide input.
